Welcome to Parliament Speakers, Club 9031 - a PRESIDENT'S DISTINGUISHED CLUB for 2006-2007!! We hold regular club meetings the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from 12:00-1:00 PM. We meet at the Pitney Bowes/Group 1 Software building located at 4200 Parliament Place, Lanham, MD 20706.
 
A community based club chartered June 13, 1997, Parliament Speakers Toastmasters' who?mission is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth.
 
As part of Toastmasters International, Parliament Speakers Toastmasters is a non-profit organization what?that gives its members the opportunity to develop and improve their public speaking abilities and leadership skills through local club meetings, training seminars and speech contests. Toastmasters International includes more than 199,000 men and women in more than 9,300 clubs in more than 70 countries.

why?Experienced professionals and beginning speakers alike can benefit from our practical, face-to-face learning program. Whether you're speaking to the board of directors, your customers, your co-workers or your kids, Toastmasters can help you do it better. You'll learn and practice in a friendly, comfortable environment with people who are there for the same reason you are—to become better communicators.

how?At Toastmasters, members learn by speaking to groups and working with others in a supportive environment. A typical Toastmasters club is made up of 20 to 30 people who meet twice a month for an hour. Each meeting gives everyone an opportunity to practice conducting meetings, giving impromptu speeches, presenting prepared speeches, and offering constructive evaluation.
